TampaBayOnline.com coverage of ChicGiraffe.com

TampaBayOnline.com (May 10, 2010) - A new website and fashionista has quickly taken the world of fashion by storm with a skilled blend of purchase power, personal style and passion. Chic Giraffe offers unique and classic fashion and personal image consulting for the “cost conscious.”

If you have ever looked into your closet and thought “I have nothing to wear!” – I feel your pain. Working as morning television anchor, wardrobe is a huge part of my on-air presentation. Keeping my look fresh and different was challenging for me until I met my personal fashion authority, Oksana Levin, better known as Chic Giraffe.

Being a national spokesperson and community host, I thought I knew what I was doing but I honestly never have felt as in touch with my sense of personal style as I do today. One meeting allowed me to transform my closet, using pieces I already had. I now go shopping with a strategy in mind knowing what works for my body, when to save and splurge, and how to morph a trend into a wearable TV and everyday piece.

Having this confidence in my personal image has changed my life… and my career path. I now receive dozens of emails each week regarding my style and my overall outside presentation gave me a chance to nab a key anchor role in a competitive market.
I wanted to share my story to inspire other women, wanting to look amazing while still budget sensitive. This is your chance to get chic. And while fashion can’t solve world hunger or cure cancer, it’s funny how when you feel better on the outside, you start to make changes on the inside too.

And that’s something you can’t put a price tag on. Visit them at http://www.chicgiraffe.com/ or contact for more details at info@chicgiraffe.com

April 6, 2010 (Boston, MA) - ChicGiraffe.com welcomes a new head of Public Relations! Join us in welcoming Rachel to ChicGiraffe.com family!
Rachel Knorr joined ChicGiraffe.com as the Head of Public Relations in March 2010. Along with her energetic personality, Rachel brings extensive experience in the public relations arena, representing a variety of clients who wish to increase name recognition within their target markets. Her past media successes include major hits within the ever increasing vast networks of television, radio, online and print. Sophisticated consumers in major cities across the U.S.do not typically rely on advertising to choose the perfect shopping venue for them. Instead, they tend to trust the word of mouth that is generated via media coverage and Rachel is the proven master of creating such a “buzz.”

Graduating with honors from Temple University in 2008, she completed a dual-degree work in Public Relations and Business Administration. An avid writer who loves meeting new people, Rachel discovered that the field of public relations was a perfect fit for her. Upon graduation, she joined one of the premier public relations agencies in Philadelphia that specializes in helping emerging art companies articulate their brand and vision to the public.

Rachel loves the creativity that goes hand in hand in building young and innovative companies, which leads her to seek out trendy newbies and help them construct public relations campaigns.

Leveraging the power of the media, Rachel helps her young, but rapidly growing clients to level the playing field against the bigger, more established competition. Rachel grasps the needs of clients and creates media opportunities that will advance their business objectives. She does not waste her clients’ time or money, the motto that ChicGiraffe.com also lives by, making her collaboration with the company so natural.

Rachel currently resides in Philadelphia, PA and in her time away from work enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling to new places, and shopping for unique finds. Contact Rachel at RachelKnorr@chicgiraffe.com

CHICGIRAFFE.COM - BIG-NAME BRANDS AT A BARGAIN!!!

Posted by The Huntington News on 3/25/10 • Categorized as Fashion & Style, Special Interest By Katie Kriz, News Correspondent

Many businesses have been forced into bankruptcy in recent years, but 29-year-old Oksana Levin saw the ailing economy differently than most: Instead of closing doors, she saw it as an opportunity to open them.
“With the current economy, we don’t have the market we are used to, so I thought Chicgiraffe.com would allow the average woman to look stylish without breaking the bank,” said Levin, who launched the online consignment shop out of Hull in January.
The online fashion boutique boasts three sections: the consignment shop, the boutique and the personal stylist branch.
Levin aid the consignment store targets consumers from teens to adults, featuring pre-owned designer brand clothing, accessories and shoes. Many items, with tags still intact, are priced less than $100.
“The consignment store provides an opportunity for other people to get better use out of items that the previous owners never or hardly ever wore,” Levin said. “It also provides an opportunity for people to clean up and organize their closets by giving us these items.”
The boutique branch of ChicGiraffe offers high-end brands of accessories and jewelry made specifically for them by the store’s affiliate designers
“The boutique allows women to buy pre-selected merchandise at ridiculously inexpensive prices,” Levin said.
“We want to make sure that the majority of our purses are Italian leather and could be viewed as a timeless investment as well as a signature style piece.”
Elizabeth Nargi, a sophomore political science major who is currently on co-op, said she wished she had this opportunity back in the fall when she was applying for jobs.
“I love designer clothes,” said Nargi. “And if you can get them so cheap, who wouldn’t give it a shot?”

With a $50 service fee, the personal styling branch at ChicGiraffe educates professional women on the clothes and personal style that will give them an edge in job interviews, pairing customers with a personal shopper or stylist to find clothes that fit both body type and personality.

Levin said paying $50 for a consultation is more of an investment than a one-time expense, giving the shopper insight into what kinds of clothes are good for them, and what outfits are best for interviews.
“We all have an inner fashionista,” she said. “But some people just need to discover this in themselves, so they can use ChicGiraffe to do that. It helps people who have this chic style but need a little help unveiling it.”
Erin McIver, a middler communication studies major, said she will gladly look into the opportunity.
“It looks great,” McIver said. “Sometimes $50 can be a little scary, but I think it would be worth it. Sometimes when I go shopping I really don’t know what to get so it would be really useful to have someone’s professional opinion on it rather than my friends just saying, ‘Oh, it looks great!’ even if it really doesn’t.”

Nargi agreed: “I would definitely do this. It sounds like a great opportunity, because usually you wind up paying $50 just for a co-op shirt,” she said.

Levin said ChicGiraffe is currently offering a special promotion specifically for college students through April 30, where students can participate in a free Q&A session on the site. Participants can e-mail stylist@chicgiraffe.com with questions about attire for interviews or presentations, and a trained professional will answer all questions in a timely manner.

The second leg of the promotion is called the “Into the Real World” consultation. Much like the personal stylist branch of the site, for $50, students can attend customized session to help them understand what professionals are looking for in the workplace today. A well thought-out outfit is very important in both interviews and the workplace, Levin said.

“This would be a great opportunity for a Northeastern student because it will make a difference in the interviewing process and the student’s overall presentation,” Levin said. “This session will help students understand the perspective of employers when they come to recruit on campus.”

Sophomore biology major Kaitlyn Sanders said this offering would be a useful opportunity.“I think the co-op Q&A idea is great – it’s good for someone who is dressing for the workplace and may be a little nervous about what to wear,” she said.

Right now, ChicGiraffe exists solely as an online boutique, but Levin said the shop could easily move beyond the web.

“Although the store is fairly new, we are still a rapidly growing company,” she said. “Currently we only have online locations, but we are definitely looking into expanding.”

Curious about the name? Levin said she simply loves giraffes. Visit the boutique at http://www.chicgiraffe.com/ or contact them with questions at info@chicgiraffe.com

WHAT DO I LIKE NOW? BRIGHT SILK SCARVES!!!!!

It is interesting how my work as a personal stylist continues to reveal innovative ways of using “old” pieces. Even as a style expert I sometimes find myself troubled by selecting an outfit that is outside of my own comfort zone. However, that is exactly what I must do in order to develop new perspectives into my clients’ image.

My recent work with Tampa-based anchor and reporter, Alicia Roberts, allowed me to discover a new approach to making an outfit stand-out. Even though Alisha is a former beauty-queen and a style-expert herself, she found herself mimicking the same type of outfit that other anchors were wearing. As a face of the local NBC network, she wanted to represent not only a pretty face, but use her image strategically so that the viewers would remember her based on multiple aspects of her work. I had to use my business acumen and think as an overall image consultant rather than just a personal stylist.

I came to understand that one of the major challenges working in broadcast media is not only getting noticed but getting remembered. There are numerous anchors and reporters in the Tampa area and beyond so standing out is extremely important if you want to become a house-hold name someday. I knew that we needed to start working on Alicia Roberts’ “brand”, rather than to continue following the trend of the other style conforming anchors (sport coats and silk blouses). I wondered what we could use to differentiate her image that her viewers could identify her by. She showed me several of her standard professional outfits, which were nice, but screamed compliance. We needed to make her image different, we needed to use something that has not been capitalized on before which would stick in the minds of her viewers.

My solution… BRIGHT SILK SCARVES! I played with the oversized bright pink and orange scarf we got from one of the most surprising places, Talbots, and used it in various ways to accentuate her attire. I used the scarf as a blouse illusion under her dark chocolate blazer, bringing life to the forgotten piece.. I used it as a belt for her bright red, almost Christmassy-like velour jacket by bringing the attention away from the unconventional color and to the smart color combination. Lastly, inspired by French art of “scarf-ing”, we came up with several ways to tie the scarf around her neck introducing different lengths and knots and add some color and uniqueness to the outfit.
Alicia was ecstatic, as she no longer needed to get rid of the pieces she thought were unwearable, and she learned about a fresh way to brand her image. The results were almost instantaneous! Even before I left Tampa, she shared with me several e-mails from her viewers complimenting her on the new look. Little did they know that the pieces we used were worn a million times before, but by adding this signature accessory to her more bland outfits seemed to make the difference! As part of this experience we not only updated Alicia’s image, but expanded her viewer’s audience. By using scarves as her signature accessory she was able to attract not only her regular viewers but also fashionistas who wait for her to come on the air and see how she will use her scarf next. Did I mention that her work day starts at 3 a.m.? That’s dedication.

www.chicgiraffe.com PERSONAL STYLIST TESTIMONIAL by Alicia Roberts

Alicia Roberts
Anchor & Reporter
Tampa, FL
WFLA-TV News Channel 8

" Working with www.chicgiraffe.com and Oksana Levin demonstrates a talented and diverse understanding of the fashion world and international trends that is both rare and special. What makes her especially unique is her keen ability to translate her designer interpretations to all body shapes, sizes, and lifestyles. Working as a television anchor in Tampa, I am constantly judged on my professional wardrobe and image. One meeting with Oksana helped me transform my style, using new combinations of pieces within my existing wardrobe, combined with a pairings of 'pop' accents and minor wardrobe tweaks that have already been noticed and highly received. In literally a few days, the compliments started coming in about my suits, belts, and style... all of which were put into high gear with the professional advice from Oksana. I also have a better sense of my overall style and fashion image, something that I believe so many people struggle with. This knowledge is helping me to shop smarter, use my wardrobe as a means to define my television presence, and feel more confident about my body and self image. I cannot tell you how invaluable my time with Oksana has been professionally and personally. I would highly recommend her for your image consulting needs."
