DURING THE COLD MONTHS TRY THIS NEW TRENT - NECK WARMERS!!!!
Passionate about setting trends, I am in constant search of new style ideas. As a fearless pioneer looking for a chance to experiment, I constantly stroll along Newbury street in Boston and stop in each and every little boutique. Late last summer I could not help but stop in all the boutiques featuring a variety of merchandise starting from Christmas décor (yes, this was in August), and “magic” ceramic frogs that are suppose to bring good luck in the New Year. There are also a variety of boutiques on Newburry Sreet that feature outdated but once chic inventory. Stopping in at one of these stores, I searching through the piles of silk and cashmere and finally stumbled upon a fur piece which wasn’t even remotely related to 20th century fashion. My newly found treasure was a bulky, brown-red colored neck warmer. I wasn’t sure what I would wear it with, but I thought the idea of introducing something new into my wardrobe, even so unconventional, was going to be fun! I brought it home and, naturally, forgot about it for year or so.
Last weekend, while packing my summer apparel (with tears in my eyes) , I pulled out my winter clothes and found the warmer. This time it did not look so strange. Somehow I knew exactly how I would wear it. The options were endless. I started by wearing it over the luxurious cashmere wool winter coat, adding a unique accent to a beautiful but somewhat ordinary piece. I then wore it over a white tank top combining it with a pair of grey wool striped wide-leg pants. The combination looked great- funky and sexy at the same time, I loved it! Not only was my look updated, but I was featuring a trend that was unique to me at the moment and wasn't being forced upon me by the designer world.
Even though I see people wear warmers, I feel accomplished (yet again) as a personal stylist because the most rewarding perk is seeing people wear a piece that you discovered before it became a trend. I encourage all of you to think outside the box, reach into the masses in your closets and find your inner stylist. Or if you need a little help checkout the neck warmers that I love on the Chic Giraffe accessories page or contact me with questions or requests for personal style advice @ chicgiraffe@gmail or customercare@chicgiraffe.com

8 WAYS TO BE A SMARTER SHOPPER
"The world has changed, and so has the way we think about what we need. But guess what? It is safe to go back to the stores and thanks to our eight-commandments guide.
Welcome back, shopping! We missed you!
#1. Know what you own (down to your socks).
There is nothing as freeing as a closet weed-out. Sort out your makeup, too!
#2. Spend within your means. See ya credit card debt!
Yes, you can shop again. You just have to know what your budget is before you start.
#3.Buy what is worth to you.
Depending on your lifestyle and career, pick the pieces that you can maximaze the use of (e.g. classics always work best)
#4. Before you buy, take a quiz offered by Tommy Hilfiger that goes:
Does this truly fit your bodym not just the body you wish you had?
Are you itching to put it on now?
Would someone who sees you on the street think, She looks GREAT?
Will you want to wear this next month, next season, next year?
Only make a purchase if you can answer YES to ALL.
#5.Rewear and reuse all stuff with pride.
As we all know, fashion always comes back and everyone of us has classics that can be worn in a billion of different ways. Use your imagination and don't be afraid to not only follow the rules, but break them. That's called being trendy!
#6.Get the trends for LESS!
Don't feel like spending a fortune on a new stylish piece, invest in a new set of scarves or accessories. They will instantly update your look and make everyone notice your "new" outfit.
#7. Never have a buyer's remorse.
Avoid spontaneous purchases. Think about the pieces you currently own and if the new item will work with any or hopefully, several of them.
#8. Be more inclined to buy, when it is for a cause.
Search our for pieces that will help people in need or sold by a retailer that contributes to a charitable organization. Purchase will feel so much better.

LIST YOUR WEDDING GOWN WITH CHICGIRAFFE.COM!!!!

I have dutifully carted my $4,300 Duchesse Silk Alvina Valenta Haute Couture gown through 4 moves and almost 2 years of marriage. I am not alone; closets accross America are hiding fancy gowns of silk, tulle and French lace amassed in the 30 years or so since the wedding industry became a juggernaut. As online venues like http://www.chicgiraffe.com/ for selling dresses prolifirate, wedding planners and other specialists say that they're seeing more brides selling their dresses. Boosting this business these days are the brides on a budget. Emotionally, it can be hard to downsize a wedding-dress dream. Some women justify the purchase of an expensive gown by planning to resell it. However, once posted on such mass market places like E-bay or Amazon, the highest average bid they get is $200. Not such a great return on investment after all. So why not to explore other options?
List with ChicGiraffe.com!!! The benefits of listing with us are limitless and unlike the other virtual and print classifieds, your lisiting does not expire for 9 months, or until your dress sells. Your gown is not limited to one store or location for potential buyers to view it. The cost of listing is only $30 but it will allow your gown to be viewed by millions of buyers searching for the dress just like yours. Contact us for posting or questions at customercare@chicgiraffe.com

SHOPPING WITHOUT GUILT!!!

Opened to the public on April 16, theOutnet — the latest hot spot created by http://www.net-a-porter.com/ founder Natalie Massenet — had 150,000 visitors register prior to the official launch. "With our fashion-forward approach, edited selection and chic format, we will continue to provide savvy shoppers with something new at a great price," says Stephanie Phair, director of theOutnet.com.
But the site offers much more than major discounts — typically 30% to 70% off — on designer apparel, shoes, handbags, jewelry, sunglasses and other accessories from seasons past. For example, a $1,455 Rick Owens draped silk dress is marked down 40% on the site to $875, while a pair of Chloé patent leather sandals is 50% off, at $298. And there are similar bargains on offer from more than 200 brands ranging from 3.1 Phillip Lim to Burberry and Alexander McQueen. What’s really got fashionistas riled up, however, are the even bigger discounts that can be found on the site’s flash sales, which registered customers are alerted to via e-mail. Its Going, Going, Gone sales — which are essentially the shoppers' version of playing chicken — begin by offering a product at its original retail price and then keep dropping the price as time runs out until either all the stock has been sold or the sale ends.TheOutnet has another innovative feature to keep customers scouring its online racks: so-called Pop-Up sales, which feature items grouped by brand or theme on sale for a limited time of up to 72 hours.
But perhaps the best traffic driver of all? Giveaways. Each month new items are up for grabs for those who register for a flash sale, with lucky winners being chosen at random. The next item being given away: a Chloé Saskia tote bag, originally priced at $1,900. Not bad for a freebie.Back to http://www.chicgiraffe.com/

As the recession deepens, luxury sales are moving into the discount arena, especially online.Since 2007, no fewer than five high-end e-tailers, including gilt groupe and ideeli, have opened shop as members-only discount sites that offer VIP-style sample sales at outlet prices. But the fashion site making the most waves these days is a new online outlet cleverly named the http://www.outnet.com/. CHIC ALERT: SMART LIVING TIPS UpdAtE!

"Rotate clothes seasonally."
"To keep clothes seeming fresh and new for years, rotate your clothes on a strong seasonal basis. Each spring, box up all of your winter clothes and put them into storage, then unbox your spring and summer clothes. Then, after the season is over, box up your spring and summer clothes and unbox your fall and winter ones. They will feel fresh and new and make it appear to the people around you that you have a fresh new wardrobe. Not only that, but careful storage and clothes rotation can also extend the lifespan of your clothes significantly, allowing you to keep items seeming new you years"

NEWS" SMART LIVING" by ChicGiraffe.com

"Double savings with manufacturing and store coupons."
"If you find a manufacturer coupon and a store coupon for the same item, you are in luck. Almost all stores will honor both coupons, meaning you can often double your savings with little effort. If you are doing coupon searches online, open up two browser windows, one with a manufacturer coupon site like www.Coupons.com, and another with the website of your favorite retailer. Compare the coupons on both, and print out any coupons that appear in both forms, as quite often these add up to a free or nearly free item"

WHAT MAKES A WOMAN REALLY STYLISH?
Just as we are unique, so is our individual take on style. We chose three women to comment on their sense of style. The chosen three to answer the question are women who have a strong sense of style that is very much their own. They are women involved in very different aspects of the fashion industry, being image consulting, boutique designer re-sale and accessories retail.
All three have a personal style that is very different from each other, and also different from my own. Accordingly, each has a fabulously different take on the question, What makes a woman truly stylish?.
Christine Johnston-Kernot - Labels
For Christine women who are truly stylish really know themselves. And they have a confidence that enables them to wear their clothes well. Women with style know that it's not always about where or who it is from, but how it's worn. She says 'from the villages of the third world to Paris high society - there will always be that someone that can wear anything and look amazing...'
For many stylish women, it is an innate sense of rightness about a look and Christine credits the right genetics as being important - at least in part. My Mom and Dad have that certain something'. But she is quick to acknowledge that may aspects of style can be learned and acquired with a little effort and time. 'I do believe that style can be taught - we are influenced by our friendships, and we learn from each other', she says. Knowledge, practice and effort can create a style that stands out.
Judy Crowe - Image Consultant
Judy's take on style encompasses the wholeness of a woman, and the way she chooses to present herself. Knowledge, like an understanding of basic principles of colour, line, body proportions and scale can help a stylish woman to make the most of her body assets while accepting and embracing challenges. Judy also acknowledges the importance of dressing for one-self,'dressing just for yourself and not for anyone else no matter how near or dear they are to us. It is an attitude and an expression of one's true spirit. Judy believes that while it has a huge visual element, stylish women often embrace a subtle kinetic expression such as the flick of hair, the sway of hips, the stride of a step or a flicker of a smile. This contributes to a woman's attractiveness that is esoteric. She recognises that all of this has to be underpinned by 'a belief that you are worthwhile, worth knowing and worth looking at. It is a confidence that you are like a work of art'. Judy believes that the truly stylish woman consciously or unconsciously knows that she gives pleasure and joy to those who look and interact with her. In total, a stylish woman has that ‘wow' factor reflected in compliments, smiles, admiring glances, and spontaneous conversations.
Jo Menary - Shine
To Jo, women who are truly stylish know how to dress their figures and have a really acute sense of how to show off their assets. They have a special knack of hiding their bad bits, so that we are not aware of them. It is this ability that really sets them apart. This knowledge also means that they don't succumb to fashion unless it really suits them. Their sense of style sits in the driving seat. A great character and plenty of personality also accompany the stylish woman. Jo knows that a stylish women dresses to please herself, and in a way that expresses who she is. She recognizes the importance of a strong character as being an essential ingredient, 'and fabulous accessories, of course'. "

History of the Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14. In the West, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectionary. The holiday is named after two among the numerous Early Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middlw Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.
